The qualifier for Super 12s has already indicated that minnows is a fading term from T20 format. SriLanka and West Indies are made to run for their money and handed in ugly defeats from the new comers of this tourney. The talent and experience playing the franchise cricket that SriLanka and West Indies possess proved very little in the world cup. In my curtain raiser, I did mention there are no underdogs and favourites in T20 format. The theory is proved and more to come in the coming weeks.
Fearless cricket has shaken up producing upsets and hat-trick already. Only pattern that was visible was the team losing toss were the winners which is not a tangible stat for a team to improve.
The bar is set high from the first week and it is set to soar high during the battle of Super 12s. No team can sit on their laurels. The nature of the game will lure fans to a enthralling and immersive watch experience. Probably some fans saying “I will be right back” to their chores and such will be the intensity of the games. The franchise tourneys have lot many games to adjust but this World Cup can crown or make someone frown within couple of matches. Fans need to keep their eyes and ears open. They even can’t miss to listen the feed from snickometer.
My prediction is, this World Cup will be bowler influenced as the boundaries are bigger in Australia. The batters need to spend some more time at the gym shaping their arm muscles.
